Why Did Schofield FCU Change Its Name to Signia Credit Union?


We do what we do every day to build a stronger community in and around Schofield. Up to this point, confusion about who can join our credit union has hindered our growth, as well as our ability to achieve our mission. Changing our name gives us the ability to pursue growth opportunities that will expand our reach and enable us to provide more convenient, low-cost financial services to more people in our area. 

Our new name, Signia Credit Union, embodies the ideals of an elevated level of service built on strength and trust. We want to be the financial institution that provides you service above service. Now we have a name that reflects this.


Is the New Name Signia Credit Union or Signia Federal Credit Union?

We are officially Signia Federal Credit Union, however for branding purposes, we are using “Signia Credit Union” since it is much easier to say and presents a cleaner look on all of our marketing materials.


How Will This Affect My Membership Status?

The name change will have no impact on member status. You and your fellow members will always be our credit union’s owners.


Will Schofield FCU Debit and Credit Cards Still Work?

Yes. You can still use your current Schofield FCU debit cards. Your old cards will eventually be replaced with new cards displaying our new name and logo. 


Can I Still Use Schofield FCU Checks and Deposit Slips?

Yes. You may continue to use your Schofield FCU checks and deposit slips. When you run out of checks or deposit slips, your new ones will have the new name and logos.


Will This Change Impact Online Services or Mobile Banking?

Yes, a new website needed to be created to reflect our new brand. Please remember to update any bookmarks to our new website address: www.signiacu.org. You will still login the same way you always have to online banking, but you’ll notice the new name, logo and colors. 


In addition, an update will be pushed out for our mobile app on July 1. Please remember to update the mobile app as soon as the update becomes available.


Is the Management or Board of Directors Changing?

No. You'll still see the same friendly folks at our branch and at all the Credit Union events. 


Will I Have to Change Automatic Drafts and Direct Deposits?

No. Automatic drafts and direct deposits are routed using the same transit and account numbers as now. These numbers have not changed, so there is no need to update this information.


Is Schofield FCU Changing Ownership?

No. The credit union is not under new ownership nor are we being acquired. Our members are still the owners!


Will This Affect My Loans, Savings and Investments?

No. The name change will not impact on any of your accounts. 


What Are Some of The Positives of The Name Change?

A new name will help us reach more people in our area who don’t already know they can join us. Growth will enable our members to continue enjoying superior service. Rates on deposits and loans will remain competitive. Our growth and increased resources will allow us to serve our members even better. A new name, but with the same heart and commitment to serve you.
